DR. HAWKINS

LPC, NCC

I’m Dr. Denise Hawkins, a licensed professional counselor, and my passion is helping you reconnect with who you are, find emotional balance, and move through life’s transitions with more clarity and self-compassion. In my work, I aim to create a space where you feel genuinely seen, respected, and supported just as you are.

I bring over 20 years of experience in school-based counseling and mental health support, and I’ve spent much of my career walking alongside people through some of life’s most challenging and meaningful moments. I earned my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from The University of Georgia, along with a master’s in counseling from California State University, Long Beach, and an Educational Specialist degree from Argosy University. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in Pre-Law from Chapman University.

What has always guided my work is a deep curiosity about identity, resilience, and how our relationships and environments shape the way we see ourselves. My research, including “Bringing Out the Brilliance in Black Girls,” reflects my commitment to honoring people’s lived experiences and helping them recognize their strengths.

In therapy, I blend evidence-based approaches with a real, human connection. I often work with clients navigating burnout, anxiety, grief, family stress, and the weight of always being “the strong one.” I believe healing happens in safe relationships, and that you already carry strengths within you, even if they feel hard to access right now.

Outside of my work, I value slowing down and staying grounded. I enjoy yoga, cycling, time with family, and finding moments of rest and restoration whenever I can.

If you’re here, you might be looking for a space to breathe, reflect, and feel more like yourself again. I would be honored to walk alongside you in that process.
